Godeffroy & Co., for the purpose of commercial and plantation development on the islands. He was soon joined by two other brothers, William and Gustave Hennings, and the three brothers established stores at [[Levuka]] (on the island of [[Ovalau]]), [[Lomaloma]] (on [[Vanua Balavu]]) and on the [[Rewa River]] (on [[Viti Levu]]), to serve as hubs for surrounding plantations.
