''Swainsona oroboides'' is a prostrate or ascending perennial plant, that typically grows to a height of up to {{cvt|15|cm}} and has many stems. The leaves are imparipinnate, mostly {{cvt|20–70|mm}} long with 3 to 7 narrowly elliptic leaflets, the side leaflets {{cvt|10–24|mm}} long and {{cvt|2–5|mm}} wide with [[stipule]]s mostly {{cvt|3–5|mm}} long at the base of the [[Petiole (botany)|petioles]]. The flowers are purple, arranged in racemes of 3 to about 16, {{cvt|50–150|mm}} long, on a [[Peduncle (botany)|peduncle]] {{cvt|0.5–1.5|mm}} long. The [[sepal]]s are joined at the base to form a tube about {{cvt|1.5|mm}} long, with lobes a little to much longer than the tube. ==Distribution==
