The Ship Cafe, also know as the hotel ship Cabrillo, was a landmark of Venice, California in the first half of the 20th century. Parked off Windward Avenue on the south side of the Venice Pier from 1903 to 1946, the waterfront restaurant was known for its sumptuous food and prestigious clientele.

History
Constructed by Abbot Kinney beginning in 1903, the restaurant was designed to be a feature of the resort town of Venice. The restaurant sat on pilings, and was meant to look like an approximation of Cabrillo's "Spanish galleon". The restaurant opened in August 1904 under the management of Carlos Marchetti. The upper dining room displayed relics from the shipwreck Santa Rosa.

The original structure burned in the 1920 Abbot Kinney Pier fire, and was rebuilt the following year as a larger copy on the same plan. The Ship Cafe was also famous as a nightclub hosting musical acts and dancing girls. The second version survived until 1946 when it was sold off and slated for demolition.

The Ship Café was the site of a 1928 shootout between two Los Angeles underworld figures, Alberto Marco and Dominic Conterno.
