On 6 November 2019 a memorial plaque for the victims of the [[Spanish flu|1918 Influenza Pandemic]] was unveiled at Pukeahu. The pandemic killed around 9000 New Zealanders. The memorial park features a 50-metre tall [[carillon]] with 74 bronze bells.
