Lieutenant-Colonel Sir '''Samuel Raymond Jarvis''' was an army officer who served as High Sheriff of Hampshire.

Jarvis was born in 1790. In April 1806 he enrolled in the Army, joining the [[Royal Irish Regiment (1684–1922)|Royal Irish Regiment]], known at the time as the 18th Regiment of Foot, as an [[Ensign (rank)|Ensign]]. The following year, he transferred to the [[King's Own Scottish Borderers]], known as the 25th Regiment of Foot. He was involved in the [[Invasion of Martinique (1809)]] and the [[Invasion of Guadeloupe (1810)]].<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |date=1999 |title=MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1814, two clasps, Martinique, Guadaloupe (Sir S.R. In 1816 he was placed on half-pay and in April of the following year he became a Captain in a [[Cavalry Reserve Regiments (United Kingdom)|Cavalry Reserve Regiment]], the 2nd Life Guards. He transferred to the [[7th Queen's Own Hussars|7th Light Dragoons]] in March 1823.<ref name=":0" />

Jarvis was appointed High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1834 and received his knighthood in September of that year, at St James's Palace.<ref name=":0" />

His final promotion in the Army came in November 1851, when he received the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.<ref name=":0" />

Jarvis died in December 1868 at his home in [[Ventnor]] on the [[Isle of Wight]].<ref name=":0" />
