Pekin was one of the founding clubs of the CnHL, which was comprised of teams from Illinois and the surrounding area. A full account of their inaugural season is unavailable, however, what is clear is that the team ceased operations in 1973 and didn't return to the ice until 1977.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://newspaperarchive.com/kenosha-news-nov-22-1977-p-23/ |title=Pekin Stars here Sunday |work=Kenosha News |date=November 22, 1977 |accessdate=May 2, 2024}}</ref> Their return was hardly triumphant as the team lost all 34 games they played that season, though some were by forfeit as the club suspended play in early February. A change in ownership brought about a remarkable turnaround for the following season and Pekin won the league championship. Unfortunately, their success was short-lived and when further financing could not be arranged the team ceased operations after their title.
