The '''1836 Maryland gubernatorial election''' was held on 4 January 1836 in order to elect the [[List of governors of Maryland|Governor of Maryland]]. On election day, 4 January 1836, [[Whig Party (United States)|Whig]] nominee [[Thomas Veazey]] was elected by the [[Maryland General Assembly]], thereby gaining Whig control over the office of governor.
